Giving Tuesday #UnSelfie on a man's hand. From http://www.givingtuesday.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/GT_HandMessage_2014.jpg

Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and now Giving Tuesday

You’ve finished the Thanksgiving leftovers, survived Black Friday, visited your favorite local shops on Small Business Saturday and your Cyber Monday purchases are on their way to you. What’s next?

Giving Tuesday!

After spending a pretty penny on gifts for ourselves and our loved ones, Giving Tuesday encourages us to give of ourselves. That might mean:

  • Helping a neighbor
  • Contributing to a favorite charity
  • Collecting things you don’t need anymore
  • Any number of things that you’re passionate about

Still Shy on Ideas?

Check out What’s Happening Around the World, and click on your country (or another) to see what’s going on there. You might also want to check out what your favorite charitable organization will be doing in recognition of the day.

I took a closer look around the Giving Tuesday web site to share the idea with my friends. I love this example of marketing and technology joining together to make it hard not to know about the event – and making it easy to participate.

What are you planning to do on Giving Tuesday?

  1. This is a very good idea. I missed it by one day but it motivated me to give today anyway and to encourage others to give. So I did.
